Lack of Data

In the book "Invisible Women," Caroline Criado Perez shares research on the "gender data gap," or paucity of data about women in health and safety. The result is that the healthcare industry is optimized for men, to the detriment and poor health outcomes for those who don't identify that way. Even more concerning is the potential for new AI-enabled tools to "learn" from this data and further increase social inequalities.
