Association for Progressive Communications (APC)
Feminist Internet Research Network (FIRN) is a collaborative and multidisciplinary research project led by the Association for Progressive Communications. It gathers researchers from around the world, but especially in the Global South, to explore new approaches to digital research built around the Feminist Principles of the Internet (FPI) and feminist research practices and values. In 2019, the network arranged its first convening with eight researchers selected to be part of the FIRN project, six peer advisors, donors, and facilitators. The network managed to create a collective ethics of feminist research principles and domains of change that ground the network's values.

Data center growth in Virginia is causing a huge spike in energy demand, which is currently being met by huge fracked gas generation build-out in Virginia and the Southeast United States. Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) — the first grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. — is working to educate Virginians on data center issues and CCAN Action Fund is working to advance common sense policies to ensure data center energy demand is met with clean energy.
